Kirkus Review Is Up!

Reviews in Kirkus can greatly influence people’s interest in a new title, particularly the interest of bookstore managers and librarians. Therefore, I was greatly relieved to see a postive review for HOW TO WELCOME AN ALIEN up on their site. If you want to read the review in full, you can find it here.

There was another supposed alien sighting in Vegas a couple weeks back, so maybe that will increase sales, too. (My best friend called it an extraordinary marketing effort.) Remember: Preorders are available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Bookshop.

Glixman in a Fix has been available in the U.S. for a while now, and I’d love to get some feedback from readers!

I have had a lot of people tell me they have purchased the book, their schools’ library has ordered it, or that their children are reading it. A few students from my kids’ schools have run up to me after school to tell me they went to bed late the night before because they were up late reading Glixman.

Fan mail: the way to make an author’s heart go pitter-patter

I haven’t been posting much this month because I’ve been very, very busy. Thank G-d, in a good way. After failing to write any fiction for a couple months, I wrote three short stories – bang! bang! bang! – and a few teensy other projects besides.

I had the kids home with me on Friday because of the Mid-Winter Vacation many Jewish schools stick between semesters. I was a bit under the weather and had to shop AND cook for Shabbos because I’d been too tired after painting with the kids and taking them to a museum on Thursday to do the grocery shopping then, as I usually do.

The exhaustion! The squabbles! The noise! It was ugly.

And then I opened up Inyan magazine and saw this:

Instantly, all was better.

Calling Out to You

Not only is the book an amazing resource for observant Jews with mental illness, but it’s also essential reading for their rabbis, principals, therapists, family, and friends. The format is innovative as it contains not only articles about treating depression, OCD, and the like, but also poems and narratives written by patients themselves. Highly recommended.
